David A. Snyder, M.D.(Retired)

doctor-david-a-snyder Dr. David Snyder is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who specializes in treatment of all forms of retinal disease, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular diseases. Serving patient needs since 1979, he provides all forms of laser and medical treatment for complicated retinal and macular vascular diseases and macular degeneration, including intraocular injection of Lucentis, Avastin and Eylea. Dr. Snyder is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He has held faculty positions at Brown University’s Alpert School of Medicine, the University of Southern California School of Medicine and the University of Illinois Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine. He currently serves as an Associate Affiliate Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Dr. Snyder has participated in several research projects and has authored more than 30 scientific articles and chapters. He has delivered lectures at national and international meetings and symposia.

Dr. Snyder completed his undergraduate studies at Brown University and his medical studies at Brown University’s Alpert School of Medicine. In recognition of his academic standing and research efforts, Dr. Snyder was inducted into the prestigious Sigma Xi Scientific Honor Society at Brown. Dr. Snyder served on the Brown Medical School Board for several years. He served his medical internship at the renowned Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary (where he was awarded the Cowen prize) in Chicago under Professor Morton Goldberg. Dr. Snyder continued his extensive training with a fellowship in macular and retinal vascular diseases with the Retina Associates of the Schepens Eye Research Institute at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Snyder has served for several years on the Corporate Board and Board of Trustees at the Schepens Eye Research Institute, the largest purely eye research institute in the country. He also served as a Clinical Preceptor in macular disease at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.

Dr. Snyder is affiliated with numerous professional organizations, including the Ocular Microbiology and Immunology Group, the Florida Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists and the Society of Schepens Fellows. Dr. Snyder is also a charter member of the American Uveitis Society and a former president of the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary Alumni Association. He served twice as the President of the Brown University Club of Palm Beach County.

Dr. Snyder was born and raised in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, where he learned to love sailing. He does landscape photography as a hobby and he is a non-avid golfer.
